more power for SMTA

I have a 53 SMTA. I just bought it last weekend for $1000. I have to rebuild the TA it slips in low. Does anyone have an idea how much it will cost if i do it myself. Also I am going to pull with this tractor and want more power. I am only 17 years old so my wallet is not to fat so I would like to keep the cost down, any suggestions?
How should it do in the pulls I just pull anitque. I will be pulling against my JD "G". I am a green man but could not pass this one up. and I think I have been biten by the red bug lol. any help would be great thanks
