Look in the archives under[ more power for farmall M] or [souped up super m] these will give you some ideas. things that will give you the most bang for your buck would be a good carb rebuild including some venturi polishing and maybe rejetting, a good 3 or 5 angle valve job[5 angle is they back cut the valves with 2 angles to help flow] and mill the head, adjust your valves a little tighter on the intake i.e. the spec is .17 for both intake and exhaust,I go .12 intake and .15 exhaust. This gives you more lift and also effects duration. If you were to rebuild there is a lot more to do!! Costs, Carb rebuild around $50,head work $300 to 500,Adjustments to valves done by yourself zero . And don't forget a good tuneup, also set the timing and carb on a dyno if possible, cost for that ran me $70. These things and a lot of other rebuild work netted me 72 horses! Good luck.
