No it is not time to replace your clutch if that is your only issue ( not problem). What you have in the old A is a nonsyncronized (?sp) transmission, and it will grind between gears. With the exception of between 3rd and 4th the best thing to do is to give it time to stop spinning the gears so that you can put it into gear with out the grinding, you will have to be at a stand still. Unless you are pulling an exceptionally heavy load you should be able to start from a dead stop in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. The grinding between third and fourth can be minimized by shifting as fast as you can, you will still get some but that is the way it is.
