In 1946 Farmall Plant in Rock Island Il. was still making their Own engines in the "Motor Building AT THE PLANT in ROCK ISLAND IL. Had their own Foundry too. Plant was purchased by IHC in 1925 to build the Farmall Regulars starting in 1926. Built ALL the big rowcrops up till May 1985. The LAST FARMALL was a 5488 FWA with Cane & Rice tires. I worked there from Oct.1976 till 12-11-1981. I attended the Closing ceremony in June 1985. Last time I was ever in that plant. It was a sad day indeed! There's MANY books avail. from many different sources that describes the history of the company. Any of them can give you MUCH more detail than anyone here can tell you. It's interesting reading.
