John - That oil could be seeping down from a leak in the rocker box gasket close to the spark plug. Suggest looking for traces of oil leakage coming down from above the plug. If a leak is found, replacing the rocker box gasket is cheap and relatively quick. Is there any blue smoke in the exhaust? If you have bad rings or a leaky valve seal it would be evident in the exhaust. Would also tend to soot up the affected spark plug. If the exhaust is clear, the tractor doesn't use oil and it doesn't foul spark plugs, it says your rings and seals are probably OK. (As for the narrow formatting on your messages, I don't have a clue!)
