Lots of discussion on this subject. Main problem, rarely addressed properly, is that the heat riser needs attention. Requires splitting manifold, cleaning all the passages surrounding the heat stove inside, having a good valve plate inside, properly set so counter weight is straight up and down when cold and you need a good thermostatic spring. I have repaired many, many over the years as the same exact system from 460 to 806 gas. This doesn't replace a good proper tune up but is a direct part of the tune up.
