I had decided to use straight 30 wt. Seems like the general consensus here is to use non detergent for fear of breaking some crud loose with high detergent therefore clogging up some oil passages and causing problems there. So I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and I went and got some Traveller 30 wt. ND from Tractor supply with that in mind.
Now I'm reading the lable and it says the ND has no additives, and is not suitable for use in most gasoline powered automotive engines built after 1930. It goes on to say that it might cause equipment harm. So what's a feller to do.
I have no prior history of what kind of oil was used in it's past life. I did drop the oil pan, and the bottom of the pan had very, very little sludge buildup. Also the exposed guts looked very, very clean. Right now the M purrs like a kitten and dosen't smoke at all. So again, what's a feller to do?
TIA
