It is not correct. Wired like that it would only show current coming from the alt into the system, never any discharge when running, not actual system information. Optomistic but lacking driver usable info.
Assuming the meter did read charging when operating, the Amp gauge positive post should have only one wire attached, it shaould be #10 wire and go to the starter switch stud coming from the battery. the alt and all other wires to the lights and ignition (assumes it is point and coil, not a mag) will connect with the #10 wire coming from the alternator. This allows you to see battary charge discharge status. Jim
