I have a 1940 H that is still 6 volt, and I would like to keep it that way. I am building new battery cables out of 2/0 welding lead with crimped lugs. I am going to follow that up by using heat shrink tubing on the ends.
Does it make sense to use stainless steel nuts, bolts, and washers at the electrical connections such as the starter bolt where the ground connection is made, the starter lug, and at the starter switch? I am thinking that since stainless is less resistant to corrosion that it would be one more line of defense. Of course, whichever way I go, I will coat the connections with dielectric grease.
