This new to me 300 has only 4 hours on it since I put in new plugs, points, wires rotor. Has Ran perfect. But today I put it to work raking. first time it has run this long with out stopping. After 45 minutes in 90 degree temp it starts missing. I stop look at points setting and they look good. Starts right up and then 10 minutes later starts missing again and cuts clear off. won't start. Come back 30 minutes later starts right up. I parked it. It has been converted to 12v and the coil is so hot you can't touch it. Is this the culprit or do I look at points and condensor? Randy

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
