By the mid 50's there were three excellent hitching systems for attaching mounted implements on tractors. The best system was the Allis-Chalmers Snap Coupler which was a true three point hitch, attaching with a tongue which went under the tractor and latched in an attaching point located under the tractor. Then the lift pins were engaged this whole process could be done without leaving the tractor seat. A close second was the International Harvester Fast Hitch a two point hitch which could couple to a mounted implement without the need for the operator leaving the tractor seat. Last was the Ferguson Hitch or the present three point hitch. It is the slowest and most inconvenient of the three to use. The only reason the Ferguson Hitch became the standard was the patents on that hitch expired first.
