Thank you both very much. I looked in the clutch cover in the field and everything looked okay but I was not sure, there were no metal bits. Came back and took the seasonal disconnect cover down, it was cracked and fell in two pieces at the first pair of bolts on the long tongue shaped part. I am guessing that the problem must be in the seasonal disconnect and I will see if I can get a split collar like was shown in Wardner's pictures of his SMTA. I will temporarily repair the disconnect cover with RTV for now, will see if I can get or make a cover eventually for that spot that does not have the lever on it.
