I learned tonight (after reading replies and looking at OLD starter switch) that teh rod pulls a toggle that compresses a starter button....Up until tonight, I thought that by simply pulling the rod and making contact the starter would spin! WRONG! The button must be compressed! And this is the reason I could not get the starter to spin and the engine to roll over the other day! Duh!!!! That being said the old starter switch is kind of tough to engage so the new one was money well worth it.
