My uncle's Super H smokes and burns oil. This tractor sits unused in our shed and he asked if I use it much,he is 87 and doesn't leave home much. Frankly, because of the oil consumption and smoking, I don't use it. Since he asked about it I thought I would try to get to the bottom of the problem. I inspected and cleaned the breather tube, it was mostly clogged but since I felt air pulses out of it before I cleaned it, I doubt if this was the total cause of the problem. It may be worn out but it does start easily. (12 volt conversion). Do you think the rings are just stuck? Is there a way to diagnose stuck rings or is there a way to attempt to get them freed up? I know a rebuild will take care of it. But how about something short of a rebuild. Should I do a compression check?
BTW. He calls it an H and the decals say Super H. I forgot to get a serial number but I can get that this weekend.
