A hot starter button is a sure sign of high resistance under load. The button/switches found today are not acceptable. The other suggestions are to be taken seriously, the button may not be the only issue, but they do crank with as much as 400 to 500 amps. The real way to fix the button issue is to use a starter relay from an 54 ford to assure solid current flow. They are 6V and have one small "S" terminal to energize the relay. Jim
