The bakers cap thing is a fist full of cast iron with pipe threads on the bottom that fit the stand pipe that is also used to fill the reservoir. It is maybe 2 inches tall and has finger grips around the outside. Google images--Liftall fill cap, and the first image is it. it is located where there is no meed to remove sheet metal, it is on the top of the cas frame above where the right output elbo is located. It could have a pipe cap on it, but it should have the original Chef Hat style. The level of oil is measured from the top of the stand tube threads to the oil (coat hanger in the hole to measure 7 inches will do). Jim
