There was a post yesterday (8-14-13)related to basically the same problem I am having with a 79 IH Cub.
The tractor sat for almost 10 years and just got it running. The lift was not working, I just simply kept moving the lever back and forth every time I started it and all of a sudden it worked for a few times. Now it has stopped working again, as it was before.
Based on the advice you gave to the other poster, this is what has taken place;
- made sure fluid is a proper lever, used Hy-tran.
- the tractor is all original, so not connections are missing or loose.
- took off allen wrench plug to make sure oil drained and pumping while engine is on.
- when moving lever to the front there is not load on the engine, when moving back there is a very, very minor load. you have to listen carefully to even notice it.
Question - What other advice can you provide. Thank you in advance for you assistance. David
