When this happens with my M the problem is nearly always restricted fuel flow from rust flakes above the sediment bowl. Pulling the bowl and a shot of air back into the tank has fixed it so far. I will pull the tank and take it to a radiator shop this winter & have them clean and line the tank for about $90.
