M Carb problems- Help!

Hi,
my "M" runs fine for about 20 minutes (warmed up?) then idles OK, but any load causes it to sputter and die- sounds like it is much too lean.
It has a new carb kit, all new ignition parts.. could it be float level, or?? I am out of clues!
