If it does not move in any gear but 5th (all other positions act like neutral) the counter shaft has an issue. Probably a key stripped on the constant mesh gear, or possible a just broken shaft. 5th is the only gear that does not use the counter shaft.
If it tries to kill the engine in all gears but 5th, (and you have aligned all rails as you posted) then the 4th 5th slider is out of the shifter forks, or the shifter fork for 4th 5th is broken, or the intermediate bearing is jammed and driving the shaft. Jim
