Bob, I have not had a problem with breakage yet. Have one "H" in particular that will have at least 450 - 500 hours on it(maybe more). One reason could be that the idler mount may help to "steady" the alternator. Next one I convert I will follow your suggestion and mount to the complete bracket just to be sure. Wade
