I have a 1940 "H" with the original 6 volt generator and the cutout with the original light switch. We run it on a small 12 volt battery and since it has a mag it hardly needs that only to start. I noticed it was showing charge like normal. Will a generator with the cut out charge a 12 volt battery enough to keep it up?? I know it was kind of hard on the light bulbs but they actually worked on the dim position. It was kind of a surprise and I wondered if the old generators with cut-outs performed different than the new generators with the 3 wire Regulators?
