Hiya Dave. Hows it going my friend. Good communicating with you again. I took your advice and everything worked out OK. The gear did have the dots you mentioned. The slots came out at about 2 o' clock first try, but not quite enough room for adjustment. Took it out and scooted it over a bit and the slots ended up at about 2:30. That seemed to do the trick. I was able to get those impulse 'clicks' as per the directions in the owner's manual. I'm going to give it my first try at starting it tomorrow. Wish me luck. There's still a few loose ends I need to tidy up first.
