I used to plow snow with an IH 140 with a front blade. It did well and would handle up to a foot of snow. The secret was you had to keep the speed up. I always plowed snow in third gear at full throttle. Where I plowed was relatively level. If much hill, I think you would need chains. Once you got it going, it would keep on if it was snow that had not been run over previously.
