Thanks Jim, Gene, and RTR. The 6716DB is originally off an old wrecked B that's been here forever. My Super A is s/n 340858, engine s/n FCM 208589, number into the head is 251172R1 with a "L" underneath and a small tag with "77T" to the left of the 251172R1. Engine has water pump, dipstick, and has been in family since new, no known engine replacement. My 251172R1 head is cracked. Combustion head dimensions are identical on both heads except the spark plug boss on 251172R1 head extends 1/4" further into combustion chamber. Water jacket holes, valve lengths identical. My Super A parts book TC-39C Rev. 3 says the 251172R1 head can replace the 6716DB head and that's the only reference I can find to the 6716DB head. I think it will work ok and I'm going to try it. Thanks to all for the advice. Ed
