One of the rear 4 ply tires, 75% tread left but extremely weatherchecked, went flat. (Tire age is probably older than you and me combined) After pumping out the calcium chloride, tire pretty much crumpled. They put on a new temporary tire, 11.2 - 38 (same size as old).
My thought is the new tire looks skinnier than the old, did the sizes "decrease" over the years? I should add this new 6 ply tire was made overseas. I am seriously considering updating to 12.4's, but at an additional $175 per tire, is it worth it? (This 11.2 tire, if I keep it, is running me $445, installed.) The only reason for me to go with 12.4's is for additional lifting height on the blade with the saginaw hitch. For those of you who by chance have experience with 11.2 vs 12.4, how much more lifting height do you gain with the larger tire? Your comments are appreciated - thanks!
By the way, rims are 10".
