Tractor Suggestion

A good friend of mine has a super C that needs the timing gears to be fixed and I offered to buy it for $500 or so. (it sits outside, and has for a while) It has a fast hitch, but he wants to take it off and use it on another super c of his. this would be my first tractor, and I am 13 and on a very tight budget as far as tractors are concerned. I was wondering if I should shut up and take it the way it is or try to offer extra for the 2pt. He is a good friend of mine, and he also used to be a IH delarship owner so he knows how to do buisness. What should I do ? what if I want to use it later on, but the other method of affixing a 3pt. to it is a flimsy cultivator lift style that i've heard dosen't work well? Thanks for everyone's expertise.
