The problem with diesels may not be with the tractors - but with the fuel. I have had problems several times with the fuel "gelling" or "flaking" in the cold weather, and blocking the fuel filters and injector systems. They don't run worth a darn when that happens. My dad had problems with his then new '47 John Deere B frosting up the carburetor in cold weather. That was solved by replacing the manifold with a "hotter" one. Sadly, such a solution may be hard to find now!
