HELP - 574 fuel shutoff solenoid

My 574 has a fuel shutoff solenoid in the carb bowl which shuts the fuel off to the main jet to prevent dieseling. Sometimes it shuts off and kills the engine or won't allow the engine to start. How can I get rid of this *&^%$# thing? I can't simply unplug it because it has to have to have power to get gas to the main jet.
