The governor has never worked right since I bought the tractor about 4 years ago. I'm sure I had the throttle Valve wide open, I also replaced the throttle shaft that was in the Carb Kit. I have been on Yesterdays tractor site a number of times for this problem in the past. One thing I was told was that I had a spring missing and when I installed a spring the RPM on the tractor ran wide open with the throttle lever all the way down on Idle, so I removed the spring and ran it that way for years and got by. The reason I decided to overhaul the Carb was, this spring the tractor started running worse, like it was running out of gas when mowing uphill. Thinking I was low on fuel I added some to the tank, but it sill ran bad going up hill. That's when I also thought it was a good time to check the Governor Rod adjustment.
