start tractor.. get to mid throttle. jump 2 and 1 with a short wire. yer idiot lamp should go out and voltage come up / start charging.
IF this is the case, #1 wire is not seeing voltage from wherever it is wired. IE. it is not seeing voltage at accy..
may people wire the idiot lamp to #1m ie. key on, engine off, lamp on, start machine get up over 400 alternator rpms or so, and idiot lamp goes out, alt comes on..
try this as a test.
get a test lamp.. clip one end to switched key hot ( run ) and clip other end to #1
turn key on. test lamp should glow. start tractor and run up rpm. test lamp should go out
