lee, As Jim said there is a little stand pipe incorporated into the sediment bowl. it is avout 1/2 in tall. Yes it sounds like you have got lots of Crap/Gunge,Rust what have you in there. A little trick us Dsl tractor guys have learned.... the Dsl outlet fitting has the same stand pipe incorporated into it as well! Go to you local Tractor Wrecking yard and get a AC freon line Screen! (slightly bigger around than a #2 pencil and about 1.75 in long) It is just ahead of the Compressor on a IH 1086 AC system. It is just perfect to fit over the little stand pipe part of the Bowl assembly. All you need it some very small wire to clamp it on with! OBTW... a very sm hose clamp will not go into the 3/4 hole in the tank! I have one on my 966! If You want to visit my # is (512) 577-3837. Hope this helps John A.
