Capping hydraulic lines

I have a 560D which originally had the 2pt hitch. The metal hydraulic supply lines run across the top of the plate where your feet rest, into the tool box under the seat, and out the back. When the tractor had a 3pt conversion, these lines were capped at a junction box under the seat. Recently I felt the urge to remove all the old dirt and rusted bolts from the tool box, but now I have a hydraulic leak from a rusted spot in the line. Ideally I would totally remove the lines, right back to the top of the control valves. However, this looks like it requires removing the fuel tank, batteries, the bracket which holds the tank and the batteries, some of the throttle linkage, and then the bracket which holds the steering column. Does it sound reasonable to cut out the rusted portion of the lines and thread them for a cap until some later date when I'm up to dismantling? It appears the lines were welded to the rear junction block - would it be a safer bet to try to weld a cap on the cut lines than to cut threads? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Sam.
