I have yet to encounter an IH gasoline powered tractor made after 1939 that did not use washer type spark plugs.
Of course, we have no idea what has been done to your tractor over the last 40 years. Some people have odd proclivities. A previous owner may have had the head machined for tapered spark plugs, possibly because he did not "trust" the washers to seal properly.
It appears autolite 45 plugs are still available. Frankly, I would just go and ask for those specifically. Why mess with success?
