I think you will find a problem with the new alternator. You had 12 volts on the battery stud and #2 terminal with key off. When you turned the key on you posted that you also had the same voltage on #1 terminal. That voltage should have been less since it has to run through a resistor before entering the regulator. From the #1 terminal it goes through the regulator and then through the brushes and coil in the rotor. The resistance in the rotor should be near the same as the resistor resulting in a voltage reading of about 4 -8 volts on the #1 terminal with the key switch on. The fact that the voltage is the same indicated that there is a problem with an open circuit internally in the alternator.
I have seen this problem a couple of times with rebuilt units. One time the grounding clip was missing on the regulator. Another time the protective sleeve was still on the slip rings keeping the brushes from making contact.
