Early 574s use a 10DN alternator with external regulator. They use three wires on the alternator. A hot lead from the ammeter gauge, a ground wire, and a wire from the regulator on the F terminal.
Later ones use a 10SI alternator with the internal regulator. the gasoline models use a diode between the key switch and the #1 terminal. Diesel models use a resistor instead of the diode. The #2 terminal has a wire from the battery cable post on the starter. Thee wire connected to the output stud on the alternator comes from the ammeter gauge.
They all use a gauge rather than a light for charge indicator.
