George, I think you have a Farmall B. Look on the left hand seat support for the ID tag with a serial number then compare it to the list over in the left hand column of this page. The arrows on top of the pistons aren't familiar but just make sure when you reinstall them that the "flats" of the connecting rod face toward the camshaft side of the engine. There will also be a number stamped on the rod cap and rod with number one being toward the front end of the tractor then going back to number four at the rear. Make sure they go back in that order. You may as well re-ring the pistons as long as you have them out. Would also have the head magna-fluxed to ensure you don't have any cracks in it. Most can be repaired at any good machine shop. If you want to see a picture of another "B" go into the Kountry Life page from the link in the left column and click on Photo Gallery, then page down about 4-5 pages and click on the "View" link for "Daddy's Helper" Should help you identify your tractor. Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
