First of let me say this, for the amount of hay your talking about it's almost unfeasable to put up your own hay. If the oppurtunity is available see about getting some one to put it up on shares. They put it up for a percentage of the hay. Or look at hiring it and havig some one already on the hook to buy what you don't need. If you gotta do it yourself, I understand Cause that way you know it's done to suit you. If you go to buy a tractor, make sure it has power steering with MS you don't want to have to cranked on a stering wheel for 4 or 5 hours. Makes my arms hurt first week or so and I'm 6' 210 lbs. Find what dealers are around you for parts availability. Next you want to stay with the smaller bales 800lb or so goats get on top stomp it down smaller bales you can control waste better and do your work with smaller tractor. If you've never done this before I'd really try to help someone first year or so maybe trade labor for putting up your hay. Machinery is costly to repair and frustrating to work on when hay is down and rain is coming in.
