I just put the tractor back together today, I just have to wait 24 hours for the create a gasket to dry to add coolant.
It almost has to be a spark issue, cuz if it starts cold, the carb should be fine. nothing changes down there when it gets hot. next time it dies hot, ill check for spark.
I also changed the plugs, they dont make champion 15a's anymore, so I got 21d's which is what was in there, but 15a is whats in the manual. the problem with owning a 1951 tractor.

What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
