I had a similar problem on my SMTA, I swore it was electrical. It sat for some time before I got it. I have had tank off and flushed it out also, but occasionally it will start running poorly. I take it to the shop and blow air up through to sediment bowl inlet and that takes care of it. It does have a tube up into tank but there must be something that floats around and plugs it occasionally.
