Hi guys
Worked on the 560 a little tonight. Dropped the oil pan and took out the oil pump. The pan had about a half inch of sludge in the bottom and the pump filter did need cleaned out. Check the main and rod bearings and the were all within clearance. The rods were between .0015 and .002. The mains were right around .002. Checked all the piston skirts and they looked to be in tack.
I was a little more curious about the tappet knock against the cam. A few weeks ago when I was adjusting the valves I noticed that two of the push rods were kinda messed up. The tops of them had been egg shaped or at least not true like the other ones. The adjustments on the rocker arms were also messes up. Instead of being rounded on the bottom, they were flattened. I had a parts tractor here, so I changed the bad ones out. What would cause something like that. Is there a fix for the tappets knocking or at least something I could look for to identify the bad one.
