Just took the Behlen power steering pump off my 450 to have it rebuilt at my local IH dealer. Dealer called back with the news that the shaft was too worn and needed replaced at the cost of over $350.00 (ouch!). My question is, can I cap off the hydrolic lines and run it without power untill I get the funds to have it fixed? Also do I need to put a shaft in place of the pump or can I just replace the pump and run with the lines capped? Pump leaks bad when oil is put to it. Thanks in advance!!!!
