The h4 magneto was stock until about 1950. Then Ih used their own hortizontal distributor. The Delco and prestolite were after market. You can still buy new Prestolite distributors today.
Most but not all the tractors using the Delco distributors had an aftermarket power steering or live hydraulic pump. There was not enough room for the IH distributor and the pump.
You could also buy a delco conversion kit to change IH, Case, AC and others over from a mag to a distributor. They are very common on Case S and D series.

It was powered by either a high-compression gas engine or a distillate version with lower compression.
