I suppose this topic has been brought up before, but I wonder on what date the model year break was on the old Farmalls. Is it supposed to be on Jan 1? If so, I don't see how enough tractors could have been produced after my tractor in 1947. It is an MD #149761 making it a late '47. But, the transmission housing has the date 12-23-47 cast in it (5 days before I was born). The number makes it 1947 units before the first 1948, #151708 according to the list. I don't think the case could have made the assembly area till after Christmas. The 26th thru 31st is 6 days to produce these approx. 1947 tractors, or 325 a day, and I don't know if any of these days were a weekend. Using 52 weeks at 5 working days gives 260 working days to produce the 28,885 M's in 1947, or only 111 per day, or even less on average if they worked more days. I personally think the break off date was somtime near the first of the year but not necessarily exactly on it. Any ideas?

It was an Allis-Chalmers tractor dealership,
