It can overheat the gen field windings, and will not keep up with lights or Idling. Work tractors need real charging systems. These tractors easily start on 6v, so the least expensive is to put in a new battery. 12v with an alternator is best and cheaper than buying a quality 12v regulator. Using a Hitachi alt is easiest, or a Delco 10SI alt. Both pretty cheap and usually with a lifetime warranty. Going to a 12v generator is OK but requires more money than any other option. decide and we can talk you through the install. Jim
