I just finished about an hour ago putting a Mitsubishi alternator on my M. I think it is identical to the Hitachi, works great, warning light goes out as soon as it starts, charges about 25 amps for a few seconds and then drops to just a couple amps.
I did notice the voltage fluctuates, pulses when it is running tho. goes from about 12 to 14 up and down. Old gen and reg was putting 16 into battery, regulator was a mess.
