Hi Jim, first don't force the engine or you could bend a rod or even worse. Most likely possibility is a leaking head gasket allowing coolant to fill an engine cylinder causing hydro locking. Easy way to test for hydro locking on a BD-154 is to remove the glow plugs and see if any coolant runs out and then attempted to turn engine with starter while holding clutch pedal all the way to foot rest.
