I had a 1066 and my brother had a 1086 we both have 4440's now. We both like the 4440's better and have not had any trouble with the 4440's. Lot better cab for the long hours in the field. I see where one guy thought that the 1086 you are looking at should have all ready had a overhaul on the motor and I ask why should it need a overhaul with only six thousand hours. I think my 4440 will run to ten thousnd hours anyway. Brother 4430 he ran to thirteen thousand hours. I have a Super M-TA diesel with nine thousand hours and I have not overhauled it yet. The John Deere when I bought my 1066 was $3,000 higher,(in 1975) now the 4430 will bring $15,000 plus and a 1066 down around $5,000 plus look what the JD made you, a 1086 less than $10,000 and a 4440 will bring $25,000. The JD will be the best value and the best tractor I have ran both.
