I don't have my manual handy, but removing the bull gear cover should be no big deal. You will prably have to make the gaskets. Drain the grease. The PTO shaft, if equipped with one, will have to come out as will the gear shift lever. Remove the cover, the brake band assembly will be on the left side of the bull pinion shaft. This would be a good time to check everything else inside the fianl drive compartment, and flush the case with kerosene or solvent. Rice Equipment (814) 226-9200 has an excellent service manual that covers all aspects of this job. A good automotive machine shop or industrial supply house that deals with brake relining should have no trouble coming up with a suitable lining material replacement. Rice may have one on the shelf. Donnelly Automotive in Decatur, IL relines crane brake bands, they would be another source for your band relining job. Hope this helps.
