Bought a Farmall on which someone attempted a 12 volt conversion by adding a voltage regulator and 12 volt battery. While I know that this will work if done correctly, this one did not work when I bought the tractor. Please help me identify the regulator used. No mfr's name on it. Both of the mounting tabs is stamped "Made In USA". Underneath, on the BATT terminal, in blue ink, "3LB". Near the GEN terminal, again underneath, "1415" below that is "12V P/N". What does the P/N mean? Could it mean positive neutral? I am unaware of any USA 12 volt system with positive neutral. Any Farmalls with such an arrangement? Inside, one coil (of the 2 coils) has contacts that would be called single pole, single throw. Those contacts are open normally. I assume that this is the cutout. The other (assumed to be the voltage regulator) has contacts that would be called single pole, double throw. They are held by a spring so that the upper contacts are closed normally. This arm has very short movement. The upper contacts appear to have been hot. There is some pitting of the upper contacts, but not the lower. The pitting has left the projection extending from the upper fixed contact. Can you explain the significance of what I am seeing on this unit? Thanks for taking the time to respond.
